Wayne Rooney's 'a serial cheater'

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3655963/Hooker-Wayne-Rooneys-a-serial-cheater.html

Summary:
According to a hooker, Manchester United player Wayne Rooney has betrayed his wife, Coleen, countless times with other hookers. She also states she has no regrets about the hurt felt by Coleen, saying she deserved it for forgiving her cheating husband. Helen, the hooker, told ES Magzine "He is dead timid. Of all the footballers I've met, I'll never know why he cheats. There's a lot worse than him." Helen also stated she's slept with a very famous actor, but she won't tell us his name because she has a court order prevending this. There's also another footballer she's slept with, and might dish the dirt about this soon.

Personal opinion:
I'm a fan of Rooney, that's why I chose this story. I don't really believe that Wayne would cheat on Coleen. I've seen them on several TV shows and they seem happily in love, so why would Rooney cheat on her? I think this woman is just after his money and has never even met the guy. I feel sorry for Coleen because she seems like a lovely girl, and I'm sure hearing this news would really upset her.

London 2012 tickets on sale

Source: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3657132/London-2012-tickets-on-sale.html

Summary:
Today, the website to get tickets for the 2012 Olympics was slowed down my massive demand. The site started taking order for tickets at 6am, after 1.2m people didn't get any in the first round. Because of the huge demand, the website went down and showed a popup saying "please try again later", even after submitting payment details. The other warning they got was to not refresh the screen if they say a popup with "high demand". A costumer said "It's such a shame the system works like this over here. If you look at Anthens, it's ridiculous that they can't implement the same ticket system here."
A statement on the London 2012 website said: "Demand is extremely high at the moment on the ticketing website but the system is still transacting.
"If you've clicked submit, don't hit refresh. Please wait and the system will process your order.

Personal opinion:
It's a weird system to begin with. You basically pay for something that you're not even sure you're going to get, and with this website failing... Well, that doesn't really help that much either does it. I think the costumer who said they should implement the same system they have in Anthens is right. Why does it work fine or there and why can't they make it work in the UK?

More studying 'on home computers'

Summary:
More students use their computer at home more than they do at school. Over 90% says they use the home computer on a weekly basis for school work, and one third even uses the computer for school work on a daily basis. This concerns some people, as some people think kids from wealthier families have an advantage on the ‘poor’ kids. Not only is the computer being used for school work, also for spare time activities. The government announced a £300m Home Access scheme to give a laptop to 270,000 low income families and free broadband access.

Personal opinion:
because I myself use the internet quite a lot for course work. I think I would be lost without the internet, and I think it’s great that the government gives such a big amount of money to families that have low income, so their children can still use a computer for their school work.

County high schools under threat

Summary:

At least 10 schools have to close down, but four ones are being rebuilt to improve education for youngsters. No actions are being taken at the moment, this is all just a thought. The teachers union say jobs might be a risk with schools closing because 10 schools obviously need a lot more teachers than four do. The financial pressures imposed upon secondary schools in Powys have been a significant issue for several years. The council has drawn up four options: create sixth form centres, keeping two of the schools open while two bilingual learning centres would be created, option three is to built two centres of excellence, but up to four schools would have to close for this.

Personal opinion:

I think the article lacks information, like what kind of condition these schools are in at the moment. You can’t really form an opinion this way, because of course you don’t want schools to close down cos it costs an awful lot to rebuilt them, but also because the pupils are probably happy at their current schools.

70,000 students wait for loans and grants

Summary:

Over 70,000 students are short of money, due to delays in The Student Loans Company’s processing system. The company has distributed £43m less in funding than last year, despite an increasing number of student numbers.
Thousands of students have received none, or part of their grant and loan money. 12,000 disabled students have also been left without money that is vital for their education and special equipment. Campaigners have said that the progress is so slow; it would take 75 to clear the backlog. This leaves many (disabled) students struggling not to drop out.

The government allocates around £90m every year to disabled students. They can qualify for around £5,000 for equipment, and more than £20,000 to pay for a personal helper. Lord Addington, wrote to university ministers this week demanding action to prevent students being forced to drop out. The SLC issued a statement apologising to disabled students that have no received their money yet.

Personal opinion:
I think the Student Loans Company should do whatever it takes to make sure the students get their money as soon as possible. As I described above, the monthly grant you get is so important to many students, many of them wouldn’t even be able to go to college or university without a grant. Of course you can get a job but, especially if you live on your own, it’s really hard to combine work and school.
I think student grants are very important. The fact that there are so many students short of money is really concerning. Being a student myself I know how important it is to get money from the government every month, and I can imagine it must be even harder if you’re disabled and need expensive equipment.

Internet safety for children targeted

Summary:
Using the internet safely is set to become a compulsory part of education for primary schoolchildren in England from 2011. Currently only secondary school pupils are taught about internet safety. Gordon Brown says we need to make sure the online world is safe for young children, just like we try to ensure the real world is. The “Zip it, Block It, Flag It” campaign is intended for use by schools, retailers and social networks. The PM hopes the campaign will encourage pupils not to give out any personal information on the web and block and report any inappropriate content.

Anastasia de Waal, of Civitas, questioned whether the measures would have much of an impact. "The curriculum is already massively overstretched," she told BBC News. "It's difficult for teachers to fit everything in." She says teachers wouldn’t cover it with enough depth, and therefore suggests it would be better for teachers to talk about everyday situation, including websites, rather than teaching it in isolation.

Personal opinion:
I think it’s very important that children are protected online. There is so much inappropriate content out there that should not be viewed by young eyes. I’ve heard of people say that they’ve come across 18+ content, of have someone add them on MSN asking them to turn on a webcam. I think this is a real issue, not just in the UK, but also in Holland and the rest of Europe.

Charge your phone at Glastonbury using a T-shirt

Summary:
Mobile phone company, Orange, have created a t-shirt which can charge your mobile phones, using the noise of the festival. This new technology is based on "piezoelectric film". Basically, the vibrations of the music are turned into electrical voltage, which is thin enough to be woven into a cotton shirt. This energy is stored in a battery, which has an USB cable connected to it so you can charge your phone.
An Orange spokesman said they decided to chose a t-shirt because it's an every item that people will have on them, so they don't need to carry around an extra bag or anything.
Unfortunately, despite Glastonbury being one of the noisiest festivals, there might not be enough vibrations to gain an enourmous amount of energy, enough to charge your phone.
But this is not the first time Orange has created a battery charger for festivals... For last year's festival, Orange produced wellington boots with chargers in the heel, which gained energy from walking. The year before they made small, portable windmills for generating power.

Personal opinion:
I didn't even know this was possible! I think it's a brilliant idea, but apparently the t-shirt don't hold that much energy, so you might not even be able to fully charge your phone. I think it'd be better if they just put Orange boots everywhere, so people can leave their phones there, Orange charges them for you and you can pick them up later. But still, it's a pretty awesome idea. I heard somewhere that this t-shirt will get released over the weekend, so maybe they can still improve the shirts before they release them.

Conquer Europe or face the axe

Summary:
Andre Villas-Boas is the new Chelsea FC manager. Only a couple of days ago he left Porto to sign a new contract with London Football Club Chelsea, but if he doesn't deliver; he will get sent back on the next flight. With next to no experience, hiring Andre is quite a risk. He's going to need all the luck in the world.
Chelsea has a reputation that if managers don't deliver and make them win a cup or champions league, they get sacked immediately. This puts an awful amout of pressure on the new manager, who is about the same age as top players Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba and John Terry.

Roman Abrovich, who owns Chelsea, is really wealthy so he can hire and sack any manager he doesn't like or simply doesn't live up to the standards. He doesn't come under any pressure from the supporters. In the past 4 yeras, he's already spent more than £50m hiring and firing managers.

Personal opinion:
I'm a Chelsea fan myself, so I really hope this guy is going to get us to the top. I'd hate to see another manager leave after one season, just because we didn't win. I don't think this is gonna do the team any good. A couple of weeks ago there were some rumours going around that Hiddink might be the new manager. Personally, I think he'd be a better choice because he knows all about English football. Andre Villas-Boas used to be manager of Porto, and it's a whole different kind of football they play there. You can't compare UK football to that they play Southern Europe. Like I said, I hope he does deliver and stays for a bit longer than the other managers did.

Teenager arrested in Essex over LulzSec hacking attacks

Summary:
A teenager based in Essay has been arrested, because he is believed to have staged high-profile attacks on websites ranging from law enforcement bodies to Sony. The hacker, who goes by the nickname LulzSec denies everything though. The police said they believed the attacks were linked and carried out by the same group of hackers who have previously tried to hack the Soca and the CIA. The teenager, whose name is unknown, has been interviewed by the London Metropolitan police while at the same time specialists examid his computer equipment at home. Census data has also been accessed, which could mean all private information is now out in the open.

Personal opinion:
Sure, people should not hack into other people's files. On the other hand... shouldn't the website have been protected better than this? I think it's an outrage that this could happen and that all this information could now be on the web. I don't really understand how this could happen. Personally, I think they should be thanking this guy for finding a hack so they can fix it.

BBC plot to nick X Factor host

Summary:
According to The Sun, The BBC wants to 'steal' ITV's X-Factor host for their new talent show called "The Voice". BBCs top boss Danny Cohen is a big fan of Dermot O'Leary, who has been hosting X-Factor for four years. Not only do they want X-Factor's Dermot, they also have their eyes set on Cheryl Cole, who recently got axed from X-Factor USA.

Dermot's already got a history with the BBC as he hosts Radio 2's Saturday Show, and has in the past presented Young Question Time when Cohen still ran BBC3.

Dermot's currently still signed with ITV for another season of X-Factor, but it's a 1m-a-series-deal so he could walk after this year's show and sign with the BBC.

A spokesman for Dermot said: "Dermot is looking forward to presenting the UK X Factor later this year and currently enjoying ITV's Marriage Ref."

Personal opinion:
I'm a big fan of X-Factor and would hate it if Dermot wouldn't be the host of this show anymore. X-Factor has already gone through a lot of chances this season, and they only have 1 original judge remaining. Simon Cowell already left, Cheryl left, as did Dannii.
I would like it if Cheryl and Dermot signed with the BBC for the UK version of The Voice, but I personally think it would be like a clone of X-Factor, which is not what The Voice is about. But like I said, I love Dermot as a host and think he's doing a great job and it would be a shame to see him leave!

Petr won't Cech out of Chelsea

Summary:
Petr Cech, goal keeper of Chelsea FC has revealed he wishes to see out his carreer at Stamford Bridge. It looks like he is set to beat the club's appearances record for an overseas player, that title currently belongs to Gianfranco Zola who has made 312 appearances. During Cech's time at Chelsea he has won three Premier League titles, three FA cups and two League Cups during his time in west London.

But Cech can't see himself getting anywhere near fellow keeper Peter Bonetti's 729's Chelsea appearances. Petr says: "As much as I love playing for Chelsea, I can't see me still playing when I'm 38 or older, but if I can get over 312 apperances I'd be very proud."

Cech is ready to face rivals Manchester United in the second leg of the Champions League quarter finals tonight.

Personal opinion:
I think this is great to hear. I'm am a massive fan of Chelsea and have been for many years, and I think Petr Cech is an amazing player, maybe even the best in the world (except for Van der Sar) so I'm glad he has no intentions of leaving. It would be amazing for him if he could beat the record of a non-British player making that many appearances. He’s a fair player so, in my opinion, he really deserves it. Also, I hope they win the match tonight and beat Manchester United!

Wayne Rooney banned for Man Utd's FA Cup semi-final

Summary:
Wayne Rooney, player of Manchester United, says he’s gutted he will miss the FA Cup semi-final versus Manchester City. After scoring a hat-trick at West Ham last Saturday, he was seen swearing into a TV camera which the Football Association didn’t approve of.
Rooney immediately apologised after the match, but it was too late because the FA had already made up their mind and gave him a two-match ban, which Rooney does not agree with calling his suspension ‘excessive’.

Rio Ferdinand, team captain of Manchester United said he thinks his friend is coming in for harsh treatment and should not be front page news as there are more important things to focus on.

Personal opinion:
I think it’s weird that Rooney get suspended for two matches, just because he was seen swearing on live TV. He’s not the first player to be seen swearing on TV, yet he’s the only one who gets a suspension. That just doesn’t seem right to me. I personally think Rooney is a terrific player, but I do understand why the FA banned him because I think he should not be swearing on live TV as children are watching and a lot of these children see him as a role model. So, I hope Rooney learns from his mistakes and this won’t happen again.

Youth stabbed in front of younger brother in Edmonton

Summary:
Negus McClean, a 15-year-old boy has been stabbed to death in North London while trying to protect his 12-year-old brother. He was found at Westminster Road in Edmonton on Sunday, with stab wounds to the chest and thigh.

So far, four people have been arrested who could be responsible for his death.

One of his cousins, Noel, said that he was trying to protect his brother and that it was a selfless act, that caused him to die. He also describes it as “a disgusting act of violence”.

Negus is described as an intelligent and mature person, who loved making music.
He is one of the four victims who have been stabbed to death over the past four months, according to Scotland Yard.

Personal opinion:
I think this is a real disgrace and I honestly cannot believe that something like this could happen. Circumstances are not being given, just that Negus was trying to protect his younger brother, but what we don’t know is why his brother needed protection to begin with. Did the killer just started attacking him for no reason at all? Having said that, there is no excuse for stabbing something to death, so I hope they find the killer and put him behind bars for the rest of his life.
